What an interesting project. Place 23 pianos around the CBD and invite people to sit down and tickle the ivories. Sponsored by the Arts Centre, there is a program of organised sing-a-longs and performances to support the concept. People are invited to dance, sing and tap their feet. Find the groove. Of course, cement blocks are a required element for some of the pianos. I sat in the City Square and listened to a young girl play through art of her repertoire and rush over to her parents nearby excited. Others came by, adults and children and played snippets or random notes. The girl returned with her brother who sat at her side and pretended to turn the pages of the imaginary sheet music. ... and then this guy sat down and gave the keys a serious boogie boogie tickle.
