"I Love Paris in the springtime... I love Paris in the Fall...
So the song goes, and accurately so. Its a wonderful city any time of year.
This visit (Xmas 2017) sees us staying in an "a-par-mon" in Le Marais ~ a short stroll from Notre Dame and arguably the epicentre of good food and vibrant shopping in Paris. On December 15 Georgia flew in from Melbourne, the next day we touched down at GDG in the early afternoon, then Ellen followed a few hours later.
Of course, Christmas in Paris meant a mass at Notre Dame on Xmas Eve. Delivered in French for the most part with a few instances where English and Spanish crept in, the service was complete with the massive pipe organ in full flight and a delightful choir.

The in-Seine light of Paris captured here en route (check out my command of French) to Saint Chapelle.
Of course its not just at Rouen, Saint Chapelle, Notre Dame and just about any street corner that one encounters statuary... the Pompidou has its fair share. Cesar appears to be your typical creative genius, re-purposing things and upsizing others. This head just appeals to me. Now THATs a bat.. and who would have through that crushed Renaults could look so good...er... colourful.
In the Cesar exhibition at the Pompidou there was even slide for kids who might be bored mid exhibition. .. Marvellous!
No need to Rouen it...
Rouen holds a special place for those who have studied in depth The Wife of Martin Guerre, or the tale of triumph and woe the is Jeanne d'Arc. The place is famous on both counts for significant injustice brought upon two women (and many many more besides) who were trying to stay true to a belief each held.
The cathedral is impressive. Despite the delight of some in they party about the Christmas market in play in front of the Cathedral the faux snow huts just Rouen'd it a tad for moi. The vin chaud on sale was rather good though. The complex facade filled with statuary is impressive, the design perhaps inspiration for Gaudi.

Yes, I had one of each... The House of Thé in Rouen. "Just a wafer more Monsieur...?"
Musee d'Orsay
Van Gogh a-plenty at the Musee d'Orsay.
