The Weedy Seadragon is a marine faunal emblem of Victoria. Inan absolute exception to the rule in the website, this snap is not mine but was taken by dive buddy Sam Glenn-Smith ~ clearly a very talented underwater photographer. It shows the magnificence of the marine world and also the beauty that lies beneath the Rye pier that landlubbers fail to access and appreciate. This folks, is why we dive...

Komodo... You pretty thang!

Picture
Komodo in Nusa Tenggara Indonesia... far, far from Kuta Bali and a scuba divers delight. See  the Komodo July 2019 Dive page for more.

Two Glorious backhands. The light and the shadow

Picture
Its the FedXpress in full flight at the Australian Open snapped by me on Tuesday Jan 14  2014. I posted this as a nod to his 2013 success at the Hopman Cup in the previous week. A remarkable 14 year interval between winning the coveted jewelled ball. (Last time it was with Martina Hingis)

I rather like the composition and the shadow contained therein.

Paris... December 28 2017. Beautiful light. Two weeks in the City of Lights and Love... someone's gotta do it!

Not Wanting to Badger You...

Picture
A picture is indeed worth a thousand words, but can also raise as many questions as it might solve. In a particularly un-PC context of today, the sporrin of this sprightly Caledonian might  hark back to the days when hunting a badger was simply seen as good sport... or a spot o' dinner for the table.  In true Scottish spirit one wouldn't want to waste  a pelt...

Happiness Drives Success

Picture
"Research shows that when people work with a positive mind-set, performance on nearly every level—productivity, creativity, engagement—improves. Yet happiness is perhaps the most misunderstood driver of performance."

Mimetic Desires

Picture
You know you want one...
Mimetic desire is more than jealously... its wanting something because someone else has it. In fact it’s about valuing something because someone else values it.

Neil Gaiman

Picture
If you have 20 minutes to spare, spend it with Neil Gaiman and enjoy his address to the graduands of University of Arts  Philidelphia.

Pencil did a version of Gaiman's talk...

Picture
As a follow up, enjoy the efforts of the folks from Zen Pencil who have captured some of the  key concepts of Gaiman's address.
